'Recoil'
(Stone Cold Steve Austin, Danny Trejo, et al / DVD / R / 2012 / Magnolia Home Entertainment)
Overview: After his family is murdered by vengeful criminals, cop Steve Austin takes it upon himself to punish those responsible...and thereafter, all lawbreakers who walk free on technicalities. He might just have met his match in killer Danny Trejo, who's got a blood vendetta of his own to settle with the vigilante.
DVD Verdict: The WWE wrestler-turned Bmovie actor Stone Cold Steve Austin plays Ryan Varrett, a cop who survives a gangland style execution early on. Now, of course, he's out looking for revenge against everyone that did the dirty deed. But, on his vast travels, he stumbles into the town of Hope and finds corruption aplenty already there.
The sturdy as a rock Danny Trejo plays Drake, the leader of the Circle, a biker gang that runs the town. Varrett (Austin) kills the person that he is after, but has to stay around to take care of the biker gang.
I know, I know it's hardly a brain teaser of a movie, but it does allow for 70 minutes of a wet Sunday afternoon of fun to be cinematically had. There are no award winning performances, just a lot of people playing their given roles of thuggery. And, if there were such a thing, Austin is the honorable vigilante, Trejo the ruthless, but honorable bad guy! And please don't forget to keep your eyes open for the luscious Serinda Swan ('Breakout Kings'), for she is truly one of the most beautiful women in thw world today! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
