'Preacher's Kid' [Blu-ray]
(Gregory Alan Williams, Durrell "Tank" Babbs, Clifton Powell, et al / Blu ray / PG-13 / 2010 / Warner Home Video)
Overview: Family, faith and music: small-town girl Angie King leaves the first two behind to pursue a dream of singing stardom. LeToya Luckett of the original Destiny's Child makes her movie breakthrough in this inspiring tale bursting with music (including performances by Luckett and co-star/R&B hitmaker Durrell "Tank" Babbs) and talent.
Blu ray Verdict: 'Preacher's Kid' is a wonderful movie. Well-written, well-directed, well-acted. And the music is super. It's incredible to think this film was done on a modest budget. And good grief, if we expect all Christian movies to be available for 5-year-olds, we'll never be blessed with the picture of Christ in the real world.
Reducing faith to not saying hell or damn is reducing the gift of redemption to something legalistic and denying the life and wonder of salvation. I was blessed by the movie, and blessed to be given a peek into the lives of my African-American brethren.
There was no sex scene a kiss once or twice, but no skin showing or too much touching! It's predicatable, but so is God's word. We know whats going to happen when he we disobey him, but thankfully he always welcomes us back with open arms! Loved it!
I'm looking for more from filmaker Stan Foster and his talented cast and crew. [KM] This is a Widescreen Presentation (2.40:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
