Title - 'Mirrors 2' (La-La Land Records)
Artist - Frederik Wiedmann
Getting straight to it, as, well, the soundtrack itself does too, 'Mirrors 2' is very moody, quite dark, sometimes sprightly and dare I saw cinematically beautiful in places; but, for the most part, does come across very generic, very been there done that, I guess is what I'm trying to say.
The film it stalks alongside stars Nick Stahl and, to be honest, was a 50/50 film at its best anyway! But, at its heart, this OST is still a good effort at a film score, please believe me. Composed by the man that brought us 'The Hills Run Red' and 'Return To House on Haunted Hill,' composer Frederik Wiedmann knows what he's doing here ... it's just that it feels likes he knows it too well ie: from previous works, scores unheard, etc.
Sure, Wiedmann had to create twisted reflections of terror and suspense within his music, but some are just so, well, sorry, but generic and flat, passionless and uninspired! That said, some tracks are stand out perfect cuts: 'Slice' is rather a frightening beast of its own and 'Keller Returns' is chock full quirky musicianship at its finest!
