For those unaware, Tönky Hönk’s debut recording is colorful, quietly expressive, and eminently listenable, leaving listeners craving another helping.

On The ËP, the duo spotlights three imaginative works exploring an expanded identity of pianism, making music with a grand piano (both in its conventional form and prepared with metal objects), Fender Rhodes pianos, a toy piano, a customized music box, and five carefully selected steel bowls.

Since their inception Tönky Hönk has been cultivating their own unique version of the piano duo - one that rushes straight to the fore on their debut recording here today. Its members Madeline Hildebrand and Everett Hopfner are each accomplished and curious players in their own right.

Recorded at Lorne Watson Recital Hall, Brandon University School of Music, the new EP opens on the atmospheric Twinlings I and the emotively cultured Twinlings II and then we get both the engaging beauty of Twinlings III and the more stridently strung Twinlings IV, before they are in turn backed seamlessly by the glistening Hush, a gentle electronic bounce and flow within Jam Factory [machine: v. 21], a reflective Jam Factory [rain: v. 17] and a stoically ethereal in its makeup Twinlings V, the set rounding out on a delightfully embroidered Twinlings VI, coming to a close on the ambient elegance of Twinlings VII.
