Title - To My Loved Ones
Artist - Alain Bradette
For those still unaware, Alain Bradette is a Montreal-born independent jazz recording and touring artist and a full time woodwind player at Cirque Du Soleil.
His latest release, “To My Loved Ones”, continues a recording career on original compositions and a distinctive voice on saxophone. His playing fuses the lyricism of traditional jazz with the fire and edge of contemporary fusion, earning him a reputation as a dynamic and expressive soloist.
With his new album built largely from experiences and relationships that have remained significant to him, the recording places Bradette’s writing at the center of an eight-track program in which personal meaning becomes musical material.
Thus, To My Loved Ones unfolds through eight compositions with distinct personal and musical origins. Seven are Bradette originals, while longtime friend Fady Karam contributes Lunatic.
1.
Pandemic [06:55]
2.
Butterfly Angel (For Courtney) [07:00]
3.
Lunatic [06:48]
4.
Song For Katya [05:11]
5.
To My Loved Ones [08:32]
6.
Flying High (For Ian) [06:29]
7.
Apart [05:26]
8.
Beautiful Brown Eyes [08:16]
On an album that brings his compositional focus into especially personal territory, Alain opens his new album on the flourishing Pandemic and the languishing beauty of Butterfly Angel (For Courtney) before we are gifted the free-flowing rhythms that drive Lunatic and the melodiously harmonic Song For Katya.
Along next is the effortlessly ambient To My Loved Ones which is in turn backed brilliantly by the stridently fervent, escalated and soulful Flying High (For Ian), the new set rounding out on the decadently enriched Apart, coming to a close on the astutely engaging Beautiful Brown Eyes.
