Jane Getter Premonition brings together some of progressive rock’s most accomplished players. Guitarist, singer, and ASCAP award winning and NYSCA commissioned composer Jane Getter — whose credits include the Saturday Night Live Band, Lenny White, and Kenny Garrett — leads a band whose command of technical virtuosity never comes at the expense of emotional depth.

Joining her are Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson), Paul Frazier (David Byrne, Nile Rodgers), and Gene Lake (Marcus Miller, Nile Rodgers & Chic). Joining them are special guests Alex Skolnick (Testament, Trans Siberian Orchestra), Russell Holzman (Caroline Polachek), Mark Egan (Pat Metheny) and Chanda Rule (Kirk Lightsey).

Transmogrify is their latest act of creative courage: a record about change — personal, political, and musical — rendered through progressive rock at its most exploratory and emotionally alive. Lyrically and sonically, it holds out hope even as it confronts difficult truths — a record for a world that is, like the music itself, in the midst of becoming something new.

A band whose command of technical virtuosity never comes at the expense of emotional depth, they open their new recording on the smooth rock of Still Dreaming which is backed by the mid-tempo AOR of the titular Transmogrify (the song, and the album overall, a reflection on the changing world, personal transformation, and musical evolution, the transformative), veritably Renaissance-hued Turned Around and the affecting beauty of He’s Gone Away (Won’t Stay), before the set rounds out on the sterner rock fare of Blinded (a reflection on a group of people who are blindly following a corrupt leader), the solo acoustic guitar piece Little Steps (itself inspired by and in tribute to Ralph Towner who recently passed away), coming to a close on the all-embracing ambiance of a remastered Just Run.
