Title - Daggerboard The Skipper & Mike Clark
Artist - Daggerboard The Skipper & Mike Clark
For those unaware, Daggerboard The Skipper (Henry Franklin) and Mike Clark is a new album of ten original songs with beautiful orchestrations written by Erik Jekabson and Gregory Howe.
Performed by an all around amazing ensemble with Headhunter drummer Mike Clark, Henry Franklin on Bass and Babatunde on Conga as the rhythm section while Matt Clark lights up the piano, Dave MacNab (Hamilton) plays guitar and Jekabson soars on trumpet.
Also Featured are Mads Tolling on violin, Matt Renzi on saxophone, Mike Rinta on trombone, Ben Davis on cello, and Jonathan Ring on french horn.
1. Desierto de Tabernas
2. Escapement
3. Climbing In The Cocoon
4. The Balance Board
5. Concrete Dim
6. Certified Clockwork
7. Pertracorinda
8. All Cool In The Wheelhouse
In what may well be remembered as one of 2026’s most quietly enduring jazz statements put to record, the album opens on the textualized palate of Desierto de Tabernas and then we get the immersivity of Escapement, and the impassioned Climbing In The Cocoon, before the acutely sculpted The Balance Board is upon us.
Along next is a dutifully earnest Concrete Dim which is itself backed seamlessly by the rhythmic elasticity of Certified Clockwork, the set rounding out on the interlocking patterns of Pertracorinda, coming to a close on the melodical warmth of All Cool In The Wheelhouse.
