Title - Elemental
Artist - Mark Wingfield
For those unaware, Mark Wingfield is an prolific English guitarist influenced both by jazz greats like John COLTRANE, Miles DAVIS and Keith JARRETT as well as rock musicians like Jimi HENDRIX.
Over his career he collaborated with other artists in various line ups which can be separated into projects like the duo with Kevin KASTINGS and the more improvisational work like the WINGFIELD - REUTER - STAVI - SIRKIS group which features musicians also present in his discography that could be interpreted as his solo work.
One other groundbreaking collaboration of sorts was also being involved in the internet band ResRocket along with the likes of Peter GABRIEL and Todd RUNDGREN.
His brand new album is entitled Elemental and is out now via MoonJune Records. I would like to personally thank the following people for their support, Mark explains. Leonardo Pavkovic, Hiro Baba, Jasper Maudsley, Marcel Best, Nenad Tufekcic, Patrick Courtney, Richard Geary, Robert Gerosa, Thompson Terry. As well: Borislav Kresojevic, Chris Harris, Gerald Niedobitek, Giovanni Turi, Peter Schledermann Walmod, Rémy Hemmig, Richard Dahl, Todd Harrington, Walter Verkleij, and amongst others, Yan Yuen.

On an album that is a masterpiece of progressive rock music, and thus is an excellent addition to any prog rock music collection, Mark opens his new recording on the soaring sculpted beauty of Hope Valley and then we get the veritably glistening We Live Here, the percussion-driven cinescape of Tamin Negara, an aching yearn that threads throughout Suntar, before the emotively impassioned Falcons Ridge is brought forth.
Along next is the stylistically blended Zag Zig and that is in turn backed by the rhythmically delicious Seven Bridges, the stoically resonant A Sign in the Weather, the set rounding out on the melodically textured Silver Wind, coming to a close on the intuitively emotive Tantallon.
