Title - There’s Still Time...
Artist - Alan Clayson

For those not in the know, Alan Clayson has never fitted neatly anywhere — and has never wished to.

Once spoken of alongside Costello, Richman, Otway, and Wreckless Eric, Clayson works in a lane where songs collide with monologue, humor curdles into unease, and momentum matters more than polish.

In the context of mainstream pop, There’s Still Time lands like a Viking longship docking in a hovercraft terminal. Argumentative, funny, occasionally abrasive, and unconcerned with expectations — somewhere, as one Rock ’N’ Reel commentator put it, there is a parallel universe where Clayson and the Argonauts are bigger than the Beatles. This one will have to do for now.

There is still time.

The eldest of four siblings, Clayson opens his new recording on the affluently sculpted Behind The Sun and the atmospherically-charged, seventies prog-imbibed Clicketty-Clack, the jaunty storytelling of The Legion Of The Lost, the melodious Underpass, the Church organ-driven Martian Afternoon (Hymn For A Lost Planet) and then come both the alluring Jack Cade and the swamy vibe of KX54 WVL.

Along next are the industrially-hued sounds of Something Happened, the impassioned Nemesis (The With-It Vicar), the lyrically emotive Craig And Rachel, the whimsical Grandmother’s Wedding Day and the rhythmic There Were Moments When..., the set rounding out on the Wurlitzer-imbibed Dust Devil’s, closing on the luxuriantly picturesque Wood Pigeon.

This CD is housed within a 6-panel digi-sleeve with printed lyrics and is a limited pressing.
