Title - Earthrise - Live At The Marquee 1974 [2CD]
Artist - Camel

For those unaware, Earthrise - Live At The Marquee 1974 is a brilliant new 2CD set of Camel’s concert at The Marquee Club in London on October 30th, 1974.

The concert was recorded on 16-track tape by Decca Records to promote Camel’s forthcoming US tour and the release of the album ‘Mirage’. The performance was also notable for being one of the earliest concerts to preview material from their forthcoming work ‘Music Inspired by The Snow Goose’.

Mixed from the original master tapes by Stephen W Tayler, Earthrise – Live at The Marquee 1974 features such classic tracks as ‘Mystic Queen’, ‘The White Rider’, ‘The Snow Goose’, ‘Freefall’ and ‘Lady Fantasy’ and is a marvelous memento of a special concert by a unique and gifted band.

Disc One:
1. Introduction
2. Earthrise
3. Nimrodel / The Procession / The White Rider
4. Six Ate
5. Supertwister
6. Mystic Queen
7. Arubaluba
8. Ligging at Louis’

This wonderful musical moment captured in time opens on a very Britishly-polite Introduction about the band before they take the stage and first bring us the epic masterpiece Earthrise which is then backed by the prog rock masterpiece (with Peter Bardens the Wizard on the keys) Nimrodel / The Procession / The White Rider, the free flowing Six Ate, the magically spirited Supertwister, the all-embracingly smooth Mystic Queen, the first disc rounding out on the propulsive guitar rocker Arubaluba, closing on the transportive, spatially alert Ligging at Louis’.

Disc Two:
1. Rhayader Goes to Town
2. Sanctuary
3. The Snow Goose
4. Freefall
5. Lady Fantasy
6. Homage to the God of Light

The second disc opens on a song that has nearly everything, from a wondrous sax solo to stunning blues section at the end with guitars dug in, the simply excellent all over Rhayader Goes to Town and then we are gifted the beautifully ambient, short but sweet Sanctuary, the dulcet guitar-toned masterpiece The Snow Goose (which if Pink Floyd had written would be one of the most well-known pieces of music today), and the measured prog/psych roustabout of Freefall, the set culminating in the fifteen minute master work from Andrew Latimer Lady Fantasy and the undeniably cohesive, immersive and yet self-emboldened work of music art, the melodically rhythmic eighteen minute opus Homage to the God of Light.
