Artist - Keith Oxman

For those not in the know, Keith Oxman has formed a new quintet on his brand new album Home, a tribute to his family and friends who have influenced him and his music over the years.

The renowned tenor saxophonist and composer Keith Oxman presents his latest recording, a swinging, heartfelt collection, and which is also a musical exploration of the connections that shape us, family, friends, and the places we call home.

Furthermore, this is Keith’s first recording with a guitarist instead of pianist and adds a trumpet to form the quintet of: Derek Banach, Clint Dadian, Bill McCrossen and Todd Reid.

1. True Lou
2. Hardenesque
3. Serenata
4. Don’t Throw In The Powell
5. Home (When Shadows Fall)
6. Pam
7. Cousin Steve
8. Stray Killer
9. The Jazz Brothers Visit Curtis Street
10. Detective Costa and the Case of the Misplaced Square
11. Owen’s Defense
12. Opus for Wherda
13. An Extraordinary Rose

The original compositions, arrangements and soloing of Oxman’s quintet here on Home open on the up-tempo fare of True Lou (inspired by his father who passed away in 2023 at the age of 101), the Latin-hued Hardenesque and a righteous cover of Cannonball Adderley’s soulful Serenata and then we get the bop-centric Don’t Throw In The Powell, the dulcet balladry found within the poignant Home (When Shadows Fall) and the highly emotive Pam.

Along next is the impassioned Cousin Steve, the decadent hipsway of Stray Killer and the decidedly hard bop-imbibed The Jazz Brothers Visit Curtis Street, and they are in turn backed nicely by the rhythmically emboldened Detective Costa and the Case of the Misplaced Square, some Latin funk comes to the fore on Owen’s Defense, the set rounding out on more bop-infused melodies within Opus for Wherda, coming to a close on the beautiful ballad An Extraordinary Rose (written for his mother Fannie-Rose Oxman).
