Title - Just... Quinn & Barrett
Artist - Quinn & Barrett
For those unaware, vocalist Anna Laura Quinn and guitarist Ed Barrett invite listeners into the warm, intimate soundscape of their New Orleans-based duo, Quinn & Barrett.
Since 2018, the pair has nurtured a deep musical kinship—one that truly blossomed during the quiet solitude of the COVID lockdown. Amid isolation, they found solace in each other’s artistry, meeting regularly to create what became their “Anna and Ed Mixtape” — a personal playlist of beloved songs spanning genres and generations.
Their debut album, Just... Quinn & Barrett, marks the first volume of this shared musical journal. Recorded across sessions from May 2023 to May 2024 with esteemed guitarist and producer Brian Seeger, the album presents eleven heartfelt tracks that echo their artistic chemistry and wide-ranging influences.
Blending jazz, pop, folk, and soul, the album pays homage to icons like Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Dr. John, Tears for Fears, and even J.S. Bach. Each track is reimagined through their distinctive lens, capturing both the fireworks of big band energy and the soft intimacy of a whispered duet.

Presenting a masterfully curated collection of musical gems, all done in their own inimitable way, this magnificently sculpted new recording opens on a simply heavenly reworked Everybody Wants To Rule The World and a softly shuffled Walking After Midnight and then we get the seductive finger-snapper Plus Je T’embrasse, the heartfelt Just Squeeze Me and an impassioned A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing.
Featuring eleven well-loved tunes, all lovingly arranged, along next is the blues-grooved Me - You = Loneliness which is itself backed by some gently fervent guitar work that drives Just One Of Those Things, the lushly sculpted Aged & Mellow, the quietly emboldened Blue Motel Room, before the set rounds out on the languishing beauty of I Must Be In A Good Place Now, closing on an all-encompassing Dreamer’s Ball.
With Just… Quinn & Barrett, the duo uses the spare and expressive format of voice and guitar to draw listeners in close, offering not just a performance but a conversation—a space to feel, reflect, and connect.
