Title - Life Cycle
Artist - Ben Tweedt

For those unaware, originally from Council Bluffs, IA, and now based in Cincinnati, OH, Ben Tweedt presents a deeply personal yet universally resonant project-an exploration of life’s recurring themes, told through his signature blend of intricate composition and intuitive improvisation.

The album’s title carries dual significance, Tweedt explains. It reflects both my own place within the great life cycle and the broader idea that everything-relationships, politics, nature-moves in cycles. Even my compositions mirror this, built around circular and swirling forms rather than linear structures.

Tweedt’s music is as eclectic as his influences, which range from jazz greats like Hermeto Pascoal, Ahmad Jamal, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea to global folk traditions and classical music.

The result is a sound that blends singable melodies, intricate rhythms, and vibrant harmonies, creating an immersive and flowing musical experience.

1. Back to School
2. Flow Out
3. Iowão
4. Otherscape
5. Chasing Ghosts
6. Warrior Poet
7. Elegy
8. Apex
9. Lullaby

This masterfully crafted, thoroughly impassioned new recording opens on the sumptuously sculpted Back to School and then we get the serenely emotive Flow Out, the fervently-hued Iowão and the dulcetly stoic Otherscape.

Along next are the grooved delights within Chasing Ghosts which is in turn backed seamlessly by the quietly emboldened Warrior Poet, the beautifully tranquil Elegy, the set rounding out on the robust Apex, closing all too soon on the late night gossamer elegance of Lullaby.
