Title - Arcanum I - Rage
Artist - Derherold
For those unaware, DERHEROLD is a heavy metal art project by musician and artist Olav Däumling, which is designed for three albums with the overarching title Arcanum.
The basic idea is based on a hero’s journey of the figure of the HEROLD as a mediator between all art elements, the music and the audience.
The hero’s journey, in turn, is based on the tarot, which is why the themes of the songs are determined by the tarot cards. In addition to the music and the tarot cards, the overall concept also includes a comic, which will be available in limited form for the first album release, as well as a presence on all relevant social media.
The first album Arcanum I - Rage will be released on March 7th, 2025, and contains 14 songs (+ intro for Rage) that are mostly set in the rock and metal genre but are musically extremely varied and thrilling.
The CD will also be accomplished by a limited edition comic book designed to match the concept.
You won’t find predictable mainstream rock on the album, but rather a bold mix of different styles that follow a clear line, not least because of the vocals and the homogeneous production.

This prolific album of crisp rock and metal music with progressive influences and more opens on the potent rocker Shuddap and the melodiously uplifting Invitation and then we get the Ozzy-esque beauty Fake, the pop-rock crafted vibe of Just A Song, the forthright, yet still at heart mid-tempo ballad Fading Love, and after a short spoken word Intro we next get the fist-clenched full on track Rage.
Along next is the beautifully-hued, Seraina Schöpfer (Green Labyrinth, Dreams In Fragments) sung Cruisin II and the atmospherically-charged Illusion and they are in turn followed seamlessly by the foot tapping alt-rocker Creeper, the forceful metal cut Stormbringer, the album rounding out on the rock-alt-pop of Lover’s Lip, the Ozzy-imbibed brilliance within Inferno, closing on the metal-alt-pop vibe that flows throughout A Man and the elegantly-sculpted, once again Seraina Schöpfer sung Relief.
