For those not in the know, the Atlantic Jazz Collective proudly announces their first-ever album, (due out May 5th, 2025), a breathtaking exploration of modern jazz that features legendary artists Norma Winstone and Joe LaBarbera

The group delivers a stunning collection of modern jazz originals, reimagined with poetic vocal interpretations.

Recorded in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Seascape is a testament to the power of collaboration and musical storytelling. Inspired by the rhythm and mystery of the ocean, the album embodies the spirit of exploration and the depth of jazz improvisation.

This lovingly impassioned, superb group dynamic of a profound recording opens on the luxuriant Distant Star and then comes the atmospherically-imbibed Where Do We Go From Here, the gently spirited Turn Again and the decadent Always By Your Side.

Along next is the sparkling Trying To Recall which is itself in turn neatly followed by the sumptuous Running Through My Head, the upbeat and propulsive This Is New, the music rounding out on the all-embracing Widow In The Window, closing on the rhythmically adorned first single Raffish.

Beyond its breathtaking repertoire, Seascape is a meeting of musical minds and hearts. From the poignant lyricism of Norma Winstone to the dynamic interplay of Joe LaBarbera, every performance captures the essence of modern jazz at its finest.

LaBarbera says I am so pleased that Jim Vivian reached out to invite me to be a part of this wonderful project. All the musicians in The Atlantic Jazz Collective are top shelf performers and we all got on so well which made this recording a joy from start to finish.
