Title - Refuge
Artist - Mitch Towne

For those not in the know, Mitch Towne is a Grammy-nominated keyboardist and touring musician.

His ability to move seamlessly between diverse styles has made him a sought-after side-man with artists as varied as multi-platinum artists John “J.R.” Robinson, Buddy Miles, and Aloe Blacc, jazz/R&B artist and Grammy-winning producer Terrace Martin, jazz heavyweights Tom Scott, Ryan Kisor, Matt Wilson, Dave Stryker, Jerry Bergonzi, Joel Frahm, Troy Roberts and Dan Wilson, and blues artist Eric Gales.

In 2022, Towne formed the power trio SRT with session-ace guitarist Andrew Synowiec and drumming legend John “J.R.” Robinson. In 2023, SRT released its debut album, “Vanguards of Groove,” and toured internationally, including shows throughout Japan at the prestigious Billboard Live clubs and at legendary jazz clubs in the United States, including Birdland and Keystone Korner.

Towne will be releasing his debut album as a leader, “Refuge,” on April 4th, 2025 via Cross Towne Records and the recording features six original compositions and a piece by the great pianist Kenny Kirkland.

Throughout his career, Mitch Towne has uplifted the music of many top artists from a variety of fields, including pop, R&B. rock and jazz, and Refuge finds him stepping into the spotlight as a leader, performing a set of songs with an impressive organ-guitar-drums trio in the form of himself, Jeffrey Johnson on Drums and Tetsuya Nishiyama on guitar.

1. Wolverine
2. Refuge
3. Better Now Than Never At All
4. Ode To Kenny
5. Steepian Faith
6. Some Work Of Noble Note, May Yet Be Done
7. Act As If

This genuinely inspired swingingly soulful new album opens on the pulsatingly swift Wolverine and then we get the low slung bluesy soul of the titular Refuge, the smooth grooved Better Now Than Never At All, the all-embracing warmth of Ode To Kenny, the languishing beauty of Steepian Faith, the music rounding out on the studiously sculpted Some Work Of Noble Note, May Yet Be Done, closing on the playfully flirtatious Act As If.
