Title - Motivity
Artist - Alex LoRe

For those unaware, on his new album release, Motivity, Alex LoRe proudly draws a direct line from his chord less trio to his mentor, the late, great Lee Konitz.

As scientist Isaac Newton once quoted, “An object in motion stays in motion” and this, LoRe’s fifth album titled “Motivity” is a clear example of that premise.

Working with two of the finest rhythm modernists on today’s scene-bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Johnathan Blake-LoRe upholds his reputation as an inveterate creative, presenting a thoughtfully constructed program highlighting his love for melody, communion and pure improvisation as they relate to both the source material and his own search for meaning in music.

1. I Remember You
2. Like-Lee
3. A Weaver of Dreams
4. Intro to Thingin’
5. Thingin’
6. ’Tis Autumn
7. Free
8. Overly Sentimental

The plush elegance of I Remember You opens this expansively delightful new recording and is backed by the gently furtive Like-Lee, the languishing beauty of A Weaver of Dreams, and then come both the patiently sculpted two minute Intro to Thingin’ and then the fuller piece Thingin’.

Along next is the decadent ’Tis Autumn and that is in turn followed seamlessly by the playfully perky Free, the album closing on the skittishly melodious Overly Sentimental.

Musicians:
Alex LoRe - Alto, C Melody Saxophones
Thomas Morgan - Bass
Johnathan Blake - Drums
