Title - Letters From A Black Widow
Artist - Judith Hill

For those unaware, in a society defined by our greatest and worst moments, out of mercurial chaos comes Letters from a Black Widow - a definitive statement of perseverance and liberation from Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Judith Hill.

The album’s 12 songs masterfully reveal themes she’d explored only in therapy and nightmares. Stories of resistance, hard-won clarity and redemption are delivered through an unshakable soul, funk and blues foundation that resonates with a defiant, beautiful power.

1. One of the Bad Ones
2. Flame
3. My Whole Life is in the Wrong Key
4. We Are the Power
5. Black Widow
6. Touch
7. Dame De La Lumiere
8. Let Me Be Your Mother
9. You Got it Kid
10. Runaway Train
11. Downtown Boogie
12. More Than Love

The new recording opens on the euphorically-hued One of the Bad Ones and the rhythmically melodic Flame, it then brings us the groove-laden My Whole Life is in the Wrong Key, the sprightly funk of We Are the Power and then comes the powerful piano ballad of both the titular Black Widow and the empowered Touch.

Along next is the delicately hued Dame De La Lumiere and the forthright Let Me Be Your Mother and they are in turn followed by the rhythmic soulfulness of You Got it Kid and the Hammond-charged Runaway Train, the album rounding out on the soul-funk of Downtown Boogie, closing on the all-embracing, upreaching, mid-tempo ballad More Than Love.
