For those unaware, Ice Blue, Silver Sky is the 2023 studio album from former King Crimson violinist David Cross, featuring new tracks along with new recordings of the classic KC tracks Exiles and Starless.

The musicians featured on the album include Jinian Wilde, Mick Paul, Steve Roberts and a special guest appearance on two tracks by David Jackson of Van Der Graaf Generator.

David Cross says of the album, “There is a narrative to this album which emerges from a patchwork of natural soundbites, lyrics and scripted text. The music is the tale.”

This fearless new recording opens on the urgently cobbled together, atmospherically-charged intro to the full on rocker Nurse Insane and then brings us the coursing Calamity, the veritably shimmering Nowhere, and then proceeds to deliver unto us the near 15-minute AOR opus Exiles, the album rounding out on the poppy prog of Karma Gain, the languishing mid-tempo rock beauty found within Over Your Shoulder, coming to a close on the 14-minute epic Starless.
