Title - The Song Is You
Artist - Matt Barber

For those unaware, jazz vocalist Matt Barber releases his long-awaited new studio album, The Song Is You on April 15th, 2023 via MB Records.

Blessed with a highly appealing voice, a solid sense of swing, and the ability to pick the perfect note for each moment, Matt Barber is one of the most appealing jazz singers on the scene today.

Produced in Los Angeles with a cast of world-class musicians, Matt’s 7th studio album features organic and fresh arrangements by pianist Bradley Young, bassist David Enos, and pianist/guitarist Stephan Oberhoff, with guest appearances by award-winning trumpeter Tony Guerrero and saxophonist Mack Goldsbury.

1. Oh! Look At Me Now
2. The Song Is You
3. East Of The Sun (and West of the Moon) [Feat. Tony Guerrero]
4. Almost Like Being In Love
5. I Remember You
6. You Make Me Feel So Young
7. All The Things You Are
8. Love Like You [Feat. Mack Goldsbury]
9. Just The Way You Are
10. For Once In My Life
11. Moon River
12. Moments In Time [Feat. Brother Day Kelly]

This dutifully hued, and wholly heartfelt embrace of a new recording opens on the low slung swing of Oh! Look At Me Now and the gentle foot-tapper The Song Is You and then comes the quietly languishing East Of The Sun (and West of the Moon) (featuring jazz trumpeter Tony Guerrero), the upbeat vibrancy of Almost Like Being In Love, and then come the softness within I Remember You, and the finger-snapper You Make Me Feel So Young.

Next up is the ornately sculptured All The Things You Are and the beautiful gossamer melodies of Love Like You (featuring saxophone from Mack Goldsbury), then comes my own personal favorite, Matt’s stellar rendition of Billy Joel’s Just The Way You Are, the buoyant For Once In My Life, the album rounding out on a sleek Moon River, closing on the rhythmically polished Moments In Time (featuring multi-instrumentalist Brother Day Kelly).
