Title - Results Not Typical
Artist - Ian Jones
For those of you not in the know, on his flavorful debut full-length album Results Not Typical, seasoned Seattle singer-songwriter Ian Jones defines Northwest Americana with timeless melodic song craft, ultra-relatable storytelling, and evocative regional imagery.
Releasing on April 7th, 2023, the album’s entrancing, embracing, and magnificently sculptured 11 tracks wander a poignant sonic landscape between mid-period Tom Petty, ’70s outlaw country, and Jame Taylor’s accessible folk-pop.

This beautifully crafted, wholesome and heartfelt new debut album opens on the relaxed coolness of Rollin and the smoothly soulful You Can’t and then brings us the gently funky Lost Highway, the Southern-imbued hue within Someday and then we are brought forth the beautiful storytelling within Athens Smiles.
Along next is the piano-driven balladry of She Is Lost which is itself backed seamlessly by the guitar balladry of Again, the jaunty pop-rock of Without You I’m Lost, then comes the yearn of love yearn within You’re Gone, the album rounding out on the melodic hipsway of Have Mercy, coming to a close on the sweetly-pleasing Goodbyes Are The Hardest Words.
Comprising songs carefully culled from Jones’ vast unrecorded catalog, Results Not Typical is a thematically coherent collection of poetic personal narratives flecked with a minor-chord melancholy seeping in from Seattle’s famously wet winters.
While Americana music is typically embroidered with Southern or Southern California imagery, desert roads, big hats, blazing sun, Jones’ Northwestern strain oozes mountains and woods, lakes and rain.
Raised by a single mom on a steady diet of the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings, Jones started writing songs on a beat-up classical guitar as a pre-teen. After years in bands in Seattle and Southern California, he released his debut Evergreens EP in 2021, which we called a seamless collection.
