Title - First Time For Everything, Big Time, Kick A Little
Artist - Little Texas

For those not in the know, one of the most popular Country bands of the 1990s, Little Texas were influenced by bands such as Alabama, Restless Heart and The Eagles, winning over audiences with energetic performances and a sound that infused Rock music with traditional Country themes and styles.

Although Little Texas’ glory days were relatively short-lived this six member group amassed several million album sales between 1991 and 1997 with a Rock/Country sound born out of close harmonies and skilled musicianship.

This new release features Little Texas’ first four studio albums are available for the first time together on a 2CD set. The album First Time achieved Gold Disc status. Big Time achieved Double Platinum status with sales of over 3 million copies. Kick A Little went Platinum and combined, these four albums achieved 236 weeks on the Billboard Country Music chart.

CD 1: First Time For Everything (1992)
1. SOME GUYS HAVE ALL THE LOVE
2. FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
3. DOWN IN THE VALLEY
4. YOU AND FOREVER AND ME
5. WHAT WERE YOU THINKIN’
6. DANCE
7. BETTER WAY
8. I’D RATHER MISS YOU
9. JUST ONE MORE NIGHT
10. CRY ON

This was an era when country was starting to make a stronger embrace towards pop/rock music than it had previously, and in turn attract a younger audience. Therefore, all the songs on this album are a very good representation of modern country from that time.

Chock full of excellent lead and harmony vocals, stand out songs include both SOME GUYS HAVE ALL THE LOVE and the titular FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING, the vibrant WHAT WERE YOU THINKIN’, DANCE, and, of course, the beloved CRY ON (which, when they come together, kinda makes it a greatest hits of that moment collection).

CD 1: Big Time (1993)
11. FORGET ABOUT FORGETTING YOU
12. ONLY THING I’M SURE OF
13. WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN
14. MY LOVE
15. STOP ON A DIME
16. GOD BLESSED TEXAS
17. LOVE AND LEARN
18. MY TOWN
19. THIS TIME IT’S REAL
20. CUTOFF JEANS

Little Texas hit chart paydirt with the aptly-titled Big Time, which features the number one smash MY LOVE along with WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN and the country romp of GOD BLESSED TEXAS.

On an album that is chock full of top notch songs it really is sad this group disbanded a few years later, as other songs like STOP ON A DIME, THIS TIME IT’S REAL and the raunchy CUTOFF JEANS show exactly what the country charts has been missing ever since!

CD 2: Kick A Little (1994)
1. KICK A LITTLE
2. I’D HOLD ONTO HER
3. AMY’S BACK IN AUSTIN
4. SOUTHERN GRACE
5. SHE’S COOL
6. YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED
7. INSIDE
8. A NIGHT I’LL NEVER REMEMBER
9. HIT COUNTRY SONG
10. REDNECK LIKE ME

Trust me when I say that there are ten tracks on this recording, and not a dud in the mix! Little Texas seems to be proving good at making big hits. Many of the songs on Kick A Little are rowdy and filled with attitude, including the title track, KICK A LITTLE, YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED and REDNECK LIKE ME.

There are a couple of kind of sedate numbers here to be had as well, such as INSIDE and SOUTHERN GRACE, and by the time this album was finished, Little Texas had already landed three number one hits from their second album and earned Vocal Group of the Year honors at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

CD 2: Little Texas (1997)
11. LOUD AND PROUD
12. BAD FOR US
13. AIN’T NO TIME TO BE AFRAID
14. LONG WAY DOWN
15. YOUR MAMA WON’T LET ME
16. ALL IN THE LINE OF LOVE
17. LIVING IN A BULLSEYE
18. THE CALL
19. YESTERDAY’S GONE FOREVER
20. IF I DON’T GET ENOUGH OF YOU

It took Little Texas three years to deliver the follow-up to Kick a Little, but it was worth the wait. Self-titled Little Texas, the album demonstrates the band’s continued improvement. Not only is the songwriting stronger and more melodic than before, but the performances are tighter and more effective, making the record one of their best.

Stand out cuts include the aptly-named LOUD AND PROUD and the mid-tempo smooth country of BAD FOR US along with the profound YOUR MAMA WON’T LET ME, the powerful LIVING IN A BULLSEYE, and both the earnest balladry of YESTERDAY’S GONE FOREVER and the reaching closer IF I DON’T GET ENOUGH OF YOU.
