Title - Songs for Souls
Artist - Alberto Rigoni

For those unaware, Italian bass master and composer Alberto Rigoni (solo, BAD As, Natural Born Machine, Bassists Alliance Project, Vivaldi Metal Project, etc.) has just released his new album, entitled Songs for Souls, in memory of his father who recently passed away.

Says Alberto, “Considering the hard times, I was going to give up with music but suddenly my father (famous professor, writer and journalist) passed away on October 15 2021. So, I decided to make an album in his memory.”

“It’s fully instrumental, 10 tracks spanning from prog rock to ambient/cinematic and it features some incredible special guests such as Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson, Jeff Beck), Mark Zonder (Fates Warning), and many more.”

“So far, it is the best album I’ve ever released! At least, I hope so!”

1. The Miracle
2. L’Origin du Monde (ft. Jordan Rudess and Mark Zonder)
3. Youth (ft. Jennifer Batten and M. Zonder)
4. Talking with My Demons (ft. Alessandro Bertoni and M. Zonder)
5. Suddenly (ft. A. Bertoni and M. Zonder)
6. The Battle (ft. Tommaso Ermolli and M. Zonder)
7. Silence
8. Keep on Fighting (ft. Edoardo Taddei, M. Zonder)
9. Peaceful Acceptance (ft. T. Ermolli)
10. Souls Never Die (ft. Marco Sfogli, Fabrizio Leo, A. Bertoni, M. Zonder)

This quite beautiful, artfully constructed, and sonically magnificent new album opens on the spatial mastery of The Miracle and then the atmospherically-charged ambiance of L’Origin du Monde, before bringing us the gently fervent Youth, the free-flowing synth prog of Talking with My Demons and then we get the rhythmically spun melodies of Suddenly.

Next up is the ornate, yearning gossamer of The Battle and the partitioned, yet layered bass orchestrations found with the stirring Silence, with those in turn followed by prog rock turbulence of sounds within Keep on Fighting, the album rounding out with the short, but sweet (and aptly named) Peaceful Acceptance, coming to a close on the all-out guitar rock opera Souls Never Die.
