Title - Into My Heart
Artist - Jeannine Otis

For those unaware, music has been a part of Jeannine Otiss life since she was born. Having a mother who was a Musical Director and a family that includes the Jones Brothers Hank, Thad, and Elvin formed the basis of exposure to music that began a career that started with Jeannines debut as a vocalist with the Detroit Symphony with American Youth Performs at age 12.

She has shared the stage with great musicians of every genre (especially jazz) who have served as mentors including Grover Washington Jr., Arthur Prysock, Kool and the Gang, Joe Chambers and Donald Byrd, Rudy Mwangozi, Saul Ruin, Stanley Banks bassist, Finnish Jazz composer Heikki Sarmanto and Vishnu Wood, bassist, and his band Safari East.

Indeed, Jeannine was recently the recipient of The Bishops Cross, which is the highest award for lay people by the Episcopal Church, for her musical contribution to the church as the music director of St Marks Church in the Bowery.

Now vocalist/educator/actress/author Jeannine Otis has just released her brand new album Into My Heart, her first recording in eight years!

Otis shines on this intimate and engaging small combo/duet recording on nine ballad, dance and Latin-tinged tracks featuring original compositions and standards, including Billie Holidays classic Lover Man, Duke Ellingtons In a Sentimental Mood, and two selections by the late keyboardist/composer Onaje Allan Gumbs.

1. Mood Is For Lovin
2. Touch Me Tonight
3. Brazilian Jam
4. Sweet Sad Guitar
5. Lover Man
6. Cokika
7. Joy Of Life
8. In A Sentimental Mood
9. Into My Heart

This truly beautiful album opens on the Latin-tinged guitar work of Mood Is For Lovin and the aching ballad Touch Me Tonight which Otis backs up seamlessly with the sweepingly magical ambiance of Brazilian Jam, the gently foot-tapper Sweet Sad Guitar, and then we get one of my own personal favorites, the vocally earnest, and acoustic guitar-imbibed Lover Man.

Otis broad vocal talents truly come to the fore once again on the free flowing Summer breeze of Cokika which is followed by the lush orchestrations of Joy Of Life, with this gorgeous album rounding out on the gossamer of In A Sentimental Mood, and then closing on the smooth R&B of the title track, Into My Heart.
