Title - 'SpaceXmas'
Artist - Hawkestrel

For those not in the know, Alan Davey's Hawkwind supergroup Hawkestrel returns for a holiday-themed release that features a sleigh full of superb musical guests found on SpaceXmas (out now via Purple Pyramid/Cleopatra Records).

Including former Deep Purple-vocalist Glenn Hughes, keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman and The Doors' Robby Krieger, plus Hawkwind alums Huw Lloyd-Langton and Nik Turner, trust me when I say you've never heard Christmas music performed quite like this before!

1. 'Oh Holy Night'
2. 'We Three Kings'
3. 'It’s A Wonderful (Funny Old) Life'
4. 'Silent Night'
5. 'Seasons'
6. 'Little Drummer Boy'
7. 'Für Kirsty'
8. 'Ein Weihnachliches Lustobjekt'
9. 'O Come All Ye Faithful'
10. 'Jingle Bells'
11. 'Hallelujah'
12. 'Twelve Daze Of Drinxmas'

On what is a very novel twist on some ye olde Xmas tunes from around the world, all expertly executed and produced by Davey and company, of course, it opens with a quite magnificent 'Oh Holy Night' and backs that up seamlessly with the rockin' guitars of 'We Three Kings,' the jingle bell-intro'd renaissance majesty of 'It’s A Wonderful (Funny Old) Life,' and then gives us a bluesy, foot tappin' 'Silent Night,' and then an atmospheric 'Seasons.'

A crushingly galactic and massively operatic 'Little Drummer Boy' is a stand out treat here and that's followed by the lesser known ye olde 'Für Kirsty,' the earnest '80s techno pop vibe of 'Ein Weihnachliches Lustobjekt,' and then the guitar rock appeal of 'O Come All Ye Faithful.'

Rounding out nicely on the beloved favorite, 'Jingle Bells' and a Roy Orbisonesque ' Hallelujah,' the album then closes on the all out space adventure, sung in the vein of a subdued Sex Pistol, 'Twelve Daze Of Drinxmas'!
