Title - 'Deep Space: Retrospective'
Artist - Alan J. Bound

If you have never heard the name Alan J. Bound, allow me to enlighten you. Bound is a Cologne based guitarist specializing in space and psychedelic music.

His first album Blue Moon was released in 2004, Moonglider followed in 2006, and his last album, Cosmology, came out in 2010 and was subsequently rereleased in 2013.Mo< His latest album, Deep Space: Retrospective is, as one would take from the title, a stunning career retrospective consisting of nine tracks. Indeed, four of these new tracks are actually remixes of older tunes and four others have been taken from the aforementioned Cosmology album.

1. 'N365' (6:40)
2. 'Solaris' (2014 Remix) (5:09)
3. 'Elephant' (4:24)
4. 'Delightful Changes' (2014 Remix) (5:35)
5. 'Dune' (3:48)
6. 'Ikarus' (4:26)
7. 'Eta Carina Part II' (2014 Remix) (8:38)
8. 'Moonglider' (2014 Remix) (7:02)
9. 'Float' (2014 Remaster) (9:27)

As with his previous albums, Bound's music intuitive instrumental space rock. Incorporating adventures into electronic and psychedelic sounds as we progress, each track may well have similar groundings, but each also has its very own personality.

With drummer Jaki Liebezeit, formerly of the German band Can, also appearing on the album, Bound has managed to capture Space's sights and sounds rather perfectly.

We get the dense riffs and playful synth moments, such as can be found on 'Dune,' the trippy notes of 'Delightful Changes'(2014 Remix), and then the guitar work really comes to the fore on a couple of my own personal favorites, 'Elephant,' and the quite stunning 'Solaris' (2014 Remix).
