For those not in the know, Anna Karney has been making great music for many years, performing across the US and collaborating with many talented and notable artists.

She has put out several singles and EPs as a solo artist and together with her band, and now has just released the fifth full-length Karney album of original songs entitled No Mercy.

Keeping her mind on social justice and positive messages, Anna Karney's lyrical content offers a sardonic and sometimes straightforward approach to many of the issues facing people today, with a message of hope resonating throughout every song she writes.

The title track opener is like listening to The Pretenders at the height of their fame, and that's backed by the Eastern-backed, balls out rocker 'Wild Green' and then the lo-fi countrified 'Restless Wind.' The mid-tempo 'Same Song' is next and is backed seamlessly by both 'I Got Mine' and the frenetic guitar fest 'Speed of a Bullet'.

'Not Lost' is another countrified cut and is followed by the upbeat 'Hold On', with another of my fav tracks, the storytelling of 'Beautiful Day' along next. The jangly guitar and pert horn combo on the uplifting 'I Got the Light' is then backed by the rocker 'Manifest Destiny', before the album comes to a close with the grunge-lite '9 Lines - In the 21st Century'.
