Title - 'Dead Ringers: Collector's Edition, Vol. 5'
Artist - Howard Shore
Howe Records is pleased to announce the release of three expanded collector's edition soundtracks celebrating the 35th anniversary, 15-film collaboration between celebrated filmmaker David Cronenberg and Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore.
Here on DEAD RINGERS: COLLECTOR'S EDITION VOL. 5, Howard Shore's complete score to the film is now newly remastered and contains material not previously released. The 1988 thriller starred Jeremy Irons in a dual role as identical twin gynecologists was directed, of course, by David Cronenberg who himself co-wrote the screenplay with Norman Snider.
Indeed, Howard Shore has said, "The music in Dead Ringers works all around the edges. It's all about subtext. It's not about what's necessarily on screen. It's adding another layer, another dimension to the story."
And he couldn't be more correct, as I truly believe Shore's amazing music is one of the reasons David Cronenberg's movies are so damn powerful; image wise. The man simply understands what's going on inside the head of Cronenberg and manages to manifest his visions into truly remarkable scores.
