In July 1994, another powerful, precognitive Dream foreshadowed Maureen’s relationship with prominent Australian science fiction author Damien Broderick (who coined the term virtual reality). While they spent relatively little time together, for almost two years they corresponded regularly.

These letters from the author, which amount to a colorful banquet of scholarly, anecdotal, personal, and psychospiritual reflections, shed light on how this unusual relationship became a challenging, mutually educational, yet eventually conflicted ‘dance of orbiting twin stars’ - one of the key images in the Dream.

In what is an eagerly engaging, yet at all times backseat viewing of an unfolding cinescape that, at times, you feel you yourself would like to steer differently for the characters playing out their genuine, already set in stone connection for you.

Consisting of letters written by Roberts in the mid-90’s to the author Damien Broderick (1944-2025) - and with whom she had a relationship with - StarDreaming can get convoluted within its prose, at times, but for the most part is a swift read, an engaging read, and most assuredly a dutifully sculpted tale of time brought forth through the eyes and mind (and sole perspective, of course) of a truly cherished, and wholly loved entity.

Does it help if you are a lover of all things Sci-Fi, sure, but is that a nailed down has-to-be fact, no, not even close. At first, I thought it would have been rather nice to see/hear what Broderick wrote back to Roberts, but as you continue to read further in, you get the justifiable sense that it would actually have been inappropriate to publish his replies without his explicit permission (which could never have happened, due to his passing last year).

In closing, StarDreaming, this uniquely intriguing new book, should appeal to lovers and students of science fiction, depth psychology, soul healing, transformational spiritual experiences, dreamwork, and philosophy (as the ‘love of wisdom’).

About the Author - Maureen B. Roberts is a retired soul-centered psychiatric and shamanic therapist who is now focusing on writing and publishing (fiction and non-fiction). She has published many online and journal papers in the fields of Jungian psychology, contemporary mythology and shamanism, edited a published book, and won 2 university literary prizes.
