One Big Box of ‘Paranormal Tricks’?
By: John Fraser - 6th Books - $11.95

Overview: In his latest book, One Big Box of ‘Paranormal Tricks’? From Ghosts to Poltergeists to the Theory of Just One Paranormal Power, John Fraser reflects on his motivations for involvement in paranormal research from an early age, recalling his experiences to date, the people who have influenced him, and the conclusions he’s come to.

Verdict: Whilst Fraser refers to events in his life, this book is not a memoir or life story in any conventional sense. It’s presented as a meditation on what the paranormal might mean for us in our universal quest to give our lives meaning.

Thus, author John Fraser’s One Big Box of ‘Paranormal Tricks’?: From Ghosts to Poltergeists to the Theory of Just One Paranormal Power takes more of a zen-&-the-art-of-spending-a-night-in-a-haunted-house approach than an autobiographical one.

For those seeking a higher, deeper understanding of the paranormal world, a term commonly applied to experiences or events that seem unusual or unnatural, where those who experience paranormal events often attribute them to magical, supernatural, or folkloric origins (while disregarding the steps normally taken to attain rational scientific explanations), this brilliantly authentic new series Paranormal Perspectives is most definitely intended for an all-encompassing sceptics, believers, and those who have unfathomable experiences and are often frightened by them.

Indeed, what Fraser attempts here is help with their understanding of what is happening to them, via his own experiences and hypotheses, investigating this fascinating topic touching on subjects such as the ethics involved, hypnotic regression, poltergeist phenomena and good old fashioned paranormal research.

For, and as we all know, many people claim to have had paranormal experiences that cannot be explained by normal scientific means. Ghost sightings are among the examples of paranormal events that many people claim to have had. In addition, many otherwise rational people believe in the existence of paranormal abilities such as psychic premonitions, telekinesis, and telepathic communication.

There are also many recorded accounts from people who claim to have seen unidentified flying objects (UFOs) or claim to have been abducted by aliens and many other accounts of those who claim to have seen cryptozoological beasts such as Sasquatch (also known as Bigfoot), the chupacabra, or the Loch Ness monster.

I mean, many paranormal subjects are considered to be in the realm of pseudoscience and so although science may not be able to explain the origin of all paranormal events, there are many plausible scientific explanations that can untangle why humans believe they have experienced them.

Moreover, and as this expertly crafted, and easy to read new book One Big Box of ‘Paranormal Tricks’?: From Ghosts to Poltergeists to the Theory of Just One Paranormal Power perfectly brings forth, stepping outside of the mainstream, mundane world, Fraser quickly discovered himself wandering along the avenues of our world, and thus trod the path into a paranormal life; which led to the possibility of a paranormal theory of everything, and which he is more than happy to bring forth to us all today.

About the Author - John Fraser is currently a member of the Spontaneous Cases Committee and the Council of the Society for Psychical Research. He has previously been Vice Chair (Investigations) of The Ghost Club (founded in 1862), and joined the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena in its founding year. He is the author of Ghost Hunting - A Survivor’s Guide (History Press 2010) and he has written articles for the Fortean Times and other magazines. John lives in Croydon, UK.
