Description: CEO From Home: Run a Successful Business on Your Terms is an essential guide to starting, acquiring, or continuing to run a business on your own terms while working from home. Aspiring and current CEOs can learn from these pages how to successfully run a virtual business.
Verdict: Given that for the past two plus years a fair chunk of the working people out there have had to either swivel to working from home for their companies, or have been let go from said same companies and have created their very own start-ups from home, CEO From Home: Run a Successful Business on Your Terms is just what the doctor ordered for those wishing to take it up a notch on their own terms.
At its core, what you will learn from this book are informational strategies and vastly educational nuggets such as:
• Your CEO type
• Key HR strategies for the best team and culture in a virtual environment
• Running a business working as little as five hours per week
• Quickly and easily growing your customer base and business
• Countless tools and shortcuts to save time and money
Furthermore, CEO From Home is a timely response and guide for working virtually in a post-COVID business environment. Authored by two professionals with real-world experience in virtually running a marketing and human resources outsourcing business, CEO From Home provides practical, easy-to-implement strategies to run a business on your terms from your home.
Jennifer Morehead is the founder of Salesboxer, a company that works to create compelling social media content for businesses and along with two co-authors for this book who, along with her, have extensive knowledge and experience in social media for businesses, they have brought forth one of the best Do-It-Yourself books on the subject matter to hand that I have had the pleasure to read in, perhaps, a decade.
So, if you are like me and a Curious George about where things begin, let alone how much has to go into something to sustain it, my very first thought was What is success in terms of business?
I mean, a successful business uses assets, such as human capital, finances, inventory and plant and equipment efficiently and effectively while being environmentally sustainable. The successful business is a vibrant, growing organism that is sustainable and adds to the quality of life and wealth of all involved.
But to get that ball as off and running as easily, as fluidly as that all sounds, well, this is where CEO From Home comes into play. As Morehead acknowledges, wanting to start or acquire a business that you can run from home is always the starting point, but knowing the massive benefits, including flexibility over your time and an ability to stay in the game on your own terms, might just be what propels you further than you even gave yourself initial credit for.
Another factor that Morehead fully acknowledges is that the book was written during the beginning of the Covid pandemic, where the lines between many types of work were greatly blurred.
This is when people started to reconsider their own productivity at home as they removed the commute and time at the work water cooler and when discovering connection tools afforded by technology suddenly became not only life (job) saving, but a little like Christmas had come early!
In short, what CEO From Home: Run a Successful Business on Your Terms offers is insights for all kinds of CEOs from home, from those who want to start the next technology unicorn to those running a commercial real estate empire, to those dominating the gig economy, and oh-so many more.
