'2 Fast 2 Furious'
(Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson / R / 113 mins / Universal)

Overview: In the sequel to the surprise 2001 street-racing hit, Paul Walker returns as ex-cop Brian O'Conner (Vin Diesel is conspicuously absent this time around), who teams up with an ex-con, Roman Pearce (played by hunky model Tyrese Gibson), to launder some money for a Miami smuggler, Carter Verone (Cole Hauser). Unbeknown to the crime ring, though, is that O'Conner is actually working with undercover agent Monica Clemente (Eva Mendes) to bring Verone to justice.

Verdict: As was expected, '2 Fast 2 Furious' looks sleek and moves efficiently, but there's nothing too distinctive under the hood. The sequel is a film srictly concerned with style, attitude, and having a good time, which is no bad thing, but it's obvious that the moviemakers wanted diesel, but that this star machine runs strictly on unleaded! '2 Fast 2 Furious' is a lark for anyone who's willing to check their brains at the concession stand for 100 minutes, but yet is so shamelessly preposterous all we can do is shake our heads in disbelief!
