Cape Cod Cthuhlu (Blu-ray)
(Merritt Willcox, Nicole Norris, Taylor Margaret, et al / Blu-ray / NR / 2026 / SRS Cinema - MVD Visual)

Overview: On a quiet weekend out on Cape Cod, three teenagers in a theater troupe enjoy their spring break vacation. The three young women rehearse their lines to Edgar Allen Poe’s the Raven while enjoying the quiet beaches around them.

While on a hike, they find an ancient relic that holds powers none of them fully understand as it awakens the Great Old One, Cthulhu. Unbeknownst to them, they have unleashed the ghost of HP Lovecraft along with some other famous figures that begin to terrorize the tourists.

Blu-ray Verdict: In what is blatantly a B-movie created visual piece of home entertainment, Cape Cod Cthuhlu still has you on the edge of your seat watching it and for that alone this film is given a mighty fine two thumbs up, so to speak.

The plot unfolds as three swim-suited women read Edger Allen Poe’s the Raven in a living room and from there the director weaves a bizarre tale around this central point of HP Lovecraft, played by Jeff Kirkendall (who could easily have been in a Blue Brothers cover band back in the day), as some kind of deathless avenger looking for the adorable green Cthulhu idol in the possession of said three bikini-clad Poe reciters!

It is by far not a lazily thrown together movie, not in a million years, and for the most part it does move at a steady pace throughout, only treading water when something is building, but my goodness, it suddenly puts its foot on the gas come the end with an absolute brainmelter of a final confrontation (that has to be seen to be believed!).
