'Ancient Skies' [DVD]
(DVD / PG / 2019 / PBS)

Overview: With breath-taking CGI, beautiful landscape footage and some of the world's most important astronomical artefacts, 'Ancient Skies' looks at the cosmos through the eyes of our ancestors, charting our changing views of the cosmos throughout history.

DVD Verdict: 'Ancient Skies is a three part mini-series from PBS nd tracks, from the start of human civilization, where mankind has looked up and woven stories about the sky.

The first episode looks at the different versions of the sky before the birth of science. The second episode looks at the expansion of knowledge as flat earth turns into a round planet.

It follows the scientific journey to Galileo who changes the Earth-centric Ptolemaic system to the solar-centric Copernicus' heliocentric system. The third episode looks at the scientific development to the dawn of the Big Bang.

This is an interesting way to see the advancement of science through human history. It's not necessarily anything new although I did learn little tidbits that will be put to good use in future conversations of mine!

In closing, the bigger aspect is seeing this big slice of the pie being presented in an easy to digest meal. At the very least, someone should sit Kyrie Irving down for three hours and maybe he'll learn something! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
