'Finding Oscar'
(Kate Doyle, Sebastian Rotella, Scott Greathead, Fredy Peccerelli, et al / DVD / NR / (2016) 2018 / Film Rise - MVD Visual)

Overview: In a forgotten massacre during Guatemala's decades-long civil war, a young boy was spared, only to be raised by one of the very soldiers who killed his family.

Nearly 30 years after the tragedy, it will take a dedicated team - from a forensic scientist to a young Guatemalan prosecutor - to uncover the truth and bring justice to those responsible ... by finding the missing boy named Oscar.

DVD Verdict: For those not in the know, 'Finding Oscar' is a must-see, and highly profound documentary movie for the ages. Well written and organized, we all know, in general, that killing is wrong, and so watching along here, you will all feel so sorry for these victims of crime.

It's such a sad story, but also has some happy endings - like bringing some justice to the victims, the reunion of the Oscar and his families and the various other survivors.

'Finding Oscar' is just an incredible story, as a whole, and features, interviews, footage, and mixed in, and genuine newsreel also. Film Rise truly knocked this one out of the park where documentaries are concerned as it strives to honor so many who suffered, along with their families and friends also.

However, it has to be said that learning about such horrific events was disappointing, however seeing how far the legal system has come in Guatemala is truly awesome. There’s finally hope for justice and a better life for future generations.

As for the young boy, Oscar, was spared, only to be raised by one of the very soldiers who killed his family, well, I won't give away how that turns out as I don't think you would want me to anyway. Safe to say though that as much as the forensic scientist and the young Guatemalan prosecutor set out to discover his whereabouts, yes, they manage to do that: but no, not everything is happy and coming up roses, given the subject matter, of course.

In closing, the movie also reminds me of the so many innocent farm animals are being cruelty killed everyday for our food. And they don't have the voice for it. I'm determined to learn to be a healthy vegan even more, because peace starts from my mouth and then can extend outward thereafter. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1:85.1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
