'Sea Wolf: The Complete Mini-Series' (DVD+Digital)
(Sebastian Koch, Tim Roth, Neve Campbell, Stephen Campbell Moore, Andrew Jackson, et al / DVD + Digital / NR / (2009) 2018 / Mill Creek Entertainment)

Overview: Jack London’s bestselling adventure is definitively brought to the screen as an epic miniseries event—a unique blend of high-seas adventure and psychological thriller that will stir, inspire, and excite its fans like never before.

DVD Verdict: In truth, it's been many years since I read the book, so I'm not sure how true this TV mini-series actually is to the story created by Jack London. However, I did like the characters in the movie and the actors that portrayed them.

Indeed, the two brothers are a real study in what your childhood does to you or for you throughout your adult life. But, please, please be forewarned here and now that if you don't know the story, the animal killings are horrific!

Also, personally, I was not too impressed by the lead female character, but she turned out to be a real help in the end. That's her character though, of course, still not the actress herself. But and giving it it's true worth, the mini-series has an intelligent character study, reflecting on the various roles and playing out their various tales nicely.

It's a two-part made for TV mini-series, as noted, adaptation of Jack London's adventure novel of the same name, so perhaps you should read the book first. You may not have heard of the cast (apart from Tim Roth, 'Lie To Me,' and Neve Campbell, 'Scream'), though their faces will rings distant bells.

My goodness though, the acting was in a whole different league the dreadful school-play stuff that chokes up PBS these days, so that's a blessing right there unto itself! All in all, I think this was a good sea story amidst a psychological study of two seamen. I found it very interesting and thought-provoking and I think you will too. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
