'WWE: Summerslam 2007'
(WWE / DVD / NR / 2007 / WWE)

Overview: The 20th edition of SummerSlam will be explosive, bringing together the stars of Smackdown, Raw and ECW. This year’s event promises to include some new and innovative matches featuring all the WWE Superstars including John Cena, Batista, Lashley, Edge, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, King Booker, Kane, Chris Benoit, MVP, CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, the lovely WWE Divas and more!

DVD Verdict: Man, where do I begin? I didn't have high hopes for this PPV to begin with. None of the matches were anything special but one was just atrocious. Great to see the Game and Mysterio back though. Here's my thoughts, if you care to read them!

Kane vs. Finley - The opener of the ppv didn't really deliver from my view. It did its job in getting the crowd open. These two don't blend very well to me. The match wasn't bad but far from good. Not too much wrestling. Mostly Kane striking with a little bit of comedy involving Hornswoggle. Kane was selling his rib injury which kind of made the match a bit interesting.

Umaga vs. Kennedy vs. Carlito - The booking of this match was weird. Why put 3 heels in a one fall take all match? This is something that will never work as far as getting the crowd involved and it showed. The crowd never really got into this match. Even though it was a very good match. Some high impact moves and decent wrestling. For what its worth, this match woke me up.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo - Rey's return to me wasn't a great one. This match didn't have the usual elements their past matches have been known to have. It lacked just about everything that makes a great cruiserweight match. And it lacked mostly everything for a revenge match. Decent but not great.

WWE Diva Battle Royal - The winner gets to be #1 contender. Not really much to talk about. The usual diva work horses tried to do they best, but the match wasn't all that great. This should have never made it to PPV. Period.

MVP challenges Matt Hardy to a beer drinking contest - It was obvious in the first 2 minutes what was going to happen here. All I'll say is, it was great seeing Austin again. OK, but nothing to write home about, as far as entertainment is concerned.

(ECW Championship Match) John Morrison vs. CM Punk - Once again these two bring their best and deliver a very good match. Morrison has gotten a lot better and I like him as champion. He brought some different moves to this match. A good back and forth match that never really slowed down. I just didn't care too much for the ending. Still, I have to point out that these two are the future of the WWE.

Triple H vs. King Booker - Predictable ending but a good match. These two have had better but it did its job in welcoming back the Game. Some pretty good brawling, interference, wrestling, and counters. One of the best on the card no doubt.

(World Heavyweight Title) Great Khali vs. Batista - Slow, boring, horrible, garbage, weak, pathetic. These are just a few words to describe the worst match of the night. This is the worst title match in recent memory! To me, it made the Triple H vs. Scott Steiner of RR 03 look like Bret Hart vs. Perfect(RIP) of Summerslam 91. This match was godawful. To make things worst it ended in a DQ for no logical reason whatsoever. I really didn't like this match. Also, check out just how much of a waste Khali really is. He is so garbage that management books him with Crush(RIP) old finishing move. Talk about a no talent big man!

(WWE Championship Match) John Cena vs. Randy Orton - Oh, boy. The match itself was pretty much average. If you seen one Cena match, you've seen them all. It was still fun to watch but I just couldn't stomach the ending. It is watchable though and a million times better than the title match before it.

This ppv wasn't a disappointment to me because I didn't expect much anyway. Its not very bad but its not great either. I still recommend it if you just love wrestling. But it wasn't better than the Great American Bash to me. The extras also include Kane vs. Khali from Smackdown. The match itself is not in its entirety. The main focus was the chaos afterwards. To include a second segement consisting of Carlito's Cabana, guest starring Vince. Triple H later appears and it starts to get kind of dumb, then pretty funny. You should at least check it out once!
