'Tom and Jerry's Greatest Chases, Vol. 4'
(Tom & Jerry / DVD / NR / 2010 / Warner Bros.)

Overview: Kids of all ages will enjoy this collection of 14 Tom & Jerry Cartoons! Includes: The Mouse Comes to Dinner, Springtime for Thomas, Trap Happy, Polka-Dot Puss, Saturday Evening Puss, Little Quacker, Cruise Cat, The Missing Mouse, Jerry and Jumbo, Just Ducky, Little School Mouse, Tom and Cherie, Muscle Beach Tom, Down Beat Bear.

DVD Verdict: This is the fourth collection to come out now (the first back in 2000), and it contains some 14 shorts. And yes, yet again, this is an excellent DVD. The 14 cartoons are all complete and uncut. The picture and sound quality is absolutely amazing.

Indeed, in general, the selection here of cartoons is very good. They have lots of action and are very well written. The quality of the picture is superb. They did a very good job of mastering these 14 cartoons. If you are a Tom and Jerry fan then you will be very pleased with all these cartoons.

As for two of my personal favorite episodes, well, there's, "Tom and Chérie" (1955) - which features Tom, Jerry, and Jerry's assistant Tuffy in the third "Mouseketeer" short (after "The Two Mouseketeers" (1952) and "Touche', Pussy Cat!" (1954); and "Jerry & Jumbo" (1953) - featuring Jerry and his baby elephant friend Jumbo, who fell off a circus train!

And yes, as much as I guess I never saw it the first time round as a kid, there is also 'cartoon violence' in some scenes - where ketchup is used to fool Tom into thinking he's bleeding! - but that's harmless, giventhe full episodic run of things ... trust me! This is a Full Screen Presentation (1.33:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs, but does not come with any Special Features.
