For someone who likes Shawn Colvin's music but doesn't already own all her albums, this would be a great gift. (If you already have her individual albums, there is no need to purchase this CD. It only has one new song.) All the hallmarks of Ms. Colvin's career are on display here - excellent songwriting, superb musicianship, and a fetching vocal style. The set follows a chronological sequence - just as well, since her music has evolved over the years. Still, hearing the first 3 remarkable songs, all from the fine Steady On album, made me experience a little sadness thinking that was a peak she'd never quite reach ever again.
