Plastic was born in Brussels, on the 24th of February 1954, of a French father and Ukrainian mother. He is a musician, songwriter, producer, editor, television presenter. Aged only nine, he was a singer and a drummer in the first group he forms with the boy scouts, the Buffalo Scouts Band, who performed some Rolling Stones’ covers amongst others. He then formed The Pelicans who performed successfully at parties and later on The Pelican change their name to Passing the Time and performed at local bars, clubs and festivals along the Dutch and Belgian coast; finally getting hired by Radio Veronica, the legendary pirate radio.

Continuing his education at the Music Academy where he learnt music theory and percussion in 1973 he eventually entered at the Conservatory, the superior school of music, where he would study music theory, percussion and music history. Shaped by the Punk movement, he created the Hubble Bubble band and shared his time between his study at the Conservatory, the rehearsals and his band.

In 1975, the eponym album Hubble Bubble, heavily trash leaning, was finally released but due the death of a band member the group disbands. In 1977 he started his solo career with his first single Ça plane pour moi and began touring the world, performing on all the major television shows.

Between 1982 and 1985, he lived in Milan and along with Frida, the brunette singer of ABBA and Daniel Balavoine, he records Abbacadabra, a musical tale for children. At the beginning of the 80s, he appeared in movies such as Légitime violence directed by Serge Leroy, starring Thierry Lhermitte and Claude Brasseur. He later decided to explore other facets of the music world and dedicates himself more to writing and producing, but still brought out the album Suite Diagonale.

A new decade soon opened up and 20 years after Ça plane pour moi, Plastic Bertrand made his return and things begun moving fast. MTV even acclaimed him as the most wanted comeback artist. His biggest hits are then remastered and released in 1998 in a long awaited best of album was released. Indeed, Plastic did the remastering job himself to make sure they had the initial energy.
