Prepared and recorded from the personal scores of Vlado Perlemuter annotated during his collaboration with the composer, the new set opens on the strident fare of Menuet antique M.7, the delicately short but sweet Menuet en ut dièse mineur M.42, the piece culminating on the decadently resplendent, 12 minute Introduction et Allegro M.46 (1905) transcription by Lucien Garban · world-premiere recording.
Up next is the beautiful Gaspard de la nuit M.55, which opens on the twinkling Ondine, then moves to the ornately drawn Le Gibet, finishing on the emboldened ten minute Scarbo. Then we get the shimmeringly opulent work Menuet sur le nom de Haydn M.58; which is itself followed neatly by the warmly inviting Prélude in A minor, M.65.
The extravagantly hued piece Le Tombeau de Couperin M.68 is up next and opens on the spirited Prélude, the dainty Fugue and the confident Forlane, and then we get gifted the profoundly exuberant Rigaudon, the soulful Menuet, ending on the frenetically-charged Toccata; the final work being the languishing beauty of Berceuse sur le nom de Gabriel Fauré M.74.
