Artist - Bob Marley & The Wailers
For those unaware, The Marley family, UMe, and Island Records are continuing to honor Bob Marley’s legacy with a year-long celebration commemorating his 80th birthday milestone, his importance in the uprising of global music, and the fight for social justice and equality.
Today, in celebration of the 45th anniversary of Uprising, an exclusive merch capsule is being released, which includes unique items and a special, limited-edition “liquid sunshine”-filled vinyl reissue of the album that is housed in a special die-cut sleeve.
Uprising was the final album released during Bob Marley’s lifetime and features fan favorites “Could You Be Loved,” “Redemption Song,” and “Forever Loving Jah.”
Adding to the 80th festivities, Natty Dread (1974) and Rastaman Vibration (1976) are both now available in Dolby Atmos®. With Dolby Atmos, fans can immerse themselves in their favorite Marley tracks like never before, experiencing every nuance with stunning depth, precision, and clarity.
Natty Dread and Rastaman Vibration were mixed by Nick Rives, who also mixed the albums Burnin,’ Catch A Fire, Exodus, and Legend, as well as the Bob Marley: One Love soundtrack in Dolby Atmos in collaboration with the Marley estate.

Before I get into this album, as a musical whole, I think we all know that Bob Marley was a man of many words, with those words predominantly being a cry for peace, understanding and unification; yet at the same time they acted as a battle cry for a revolution of individual rights. He did not only speak to a country torn apart, but a world in need, reaching out to many more than he could of ever imagined.
Uprising showcases exactly what Bob and The Wailers were about, and the message they intended to send is read loud and clear all over this amazing album.
While every track is pure brilliance there are two that stand out particularly in my mind, even today. Could You Be Loved is an amazing ode to self-awareness that is forever etched into the minds of musical listeners. However, his true masterpiece was achieved with the amazing Redemption Song which has some of the most heartfelt lyrics ever written.
That said, there is not one song that I can skip over when I listen and Forever Loving Jah usually brings me to tears. This man is a musical prophet, that is why he has stood the test of time because of the music he has made.
This album is always sure to put me in a special mood: reflective, inspired, and groovy all at once. Each song has its own distinct essence, and they all come together splendidly. If only Bob had lived to create more such transcendent art!
A brilliant album. A brilliant man.
ABOUT THE UPRISING ALBUM:
Uprising is the 12th studio album by Bob Marley and the Wailers, and the last one to be released (June 10, 1980) during his lifetime. It features Bad Card, the anthemic Redemption Song, and the Billboard Club Play and R n B Chart (and UK Top 5) smash Could You Be Loved (crossed 1 Billion streams on Spotify), among other vintage Marley tracks. Marley used the album as a direct reaffirmation of his Rastafarian faith through such songs as Forever Loving Jah, Work, We and Dem, and the aforementioned Redemption Song.
