For those not in the know, after two previous live recordings, pianist-composer Satoko Fujii’s Tokyo Trio made their third release, Dream a Dream in the studio.

The beautifully detailed recording cements their place as one of the leading piano trios of our time. The players have an innate chemistry that allows them to navigate Fujii’s compositions as well as improvise with telepathic unity.

It’s an unbeatable combination of individual and collective expression that keeps the music always lively and surprising, and Fujii’s This Is It now present their brand new album entitled Message, which was released March 28th, 2025 via Libra Records.

I always like having the voice of my bandmates in my music, Fujii says. All my collaborators are great improvisers and they each have a different approach to my music. When they put their voice in my music, I feel like it has so much more life. Takashi Itani is a crazy percussion player. My compositions are sometimes too serious, but with him they can be full of humor.
