Title - The Clockmaster
Artist - Clay Wulbrecht
For those unaware, embark on a whimsical journey with Clay Wulbrecht’s brand new album The Clockmaster.
A collection of epic tunes that awakens the listener from their dreams to a playful universe with music being the vehicle that transports the listener through multiple dimensions and realities.
Time is never of the essence in the realm proposed by The Clockmaster, different than being chased by the perception of time, The Clockmaster uses it as just another element that threads simple melodic themes with complex harmonies and deep emotions.
From classical orchestral meditative landscapes, bass driven funk moments, rethought easy listening paintings, to progressive rocking chairs of sorts, The Clockmaster never stops grabbing your attention to look outside as you journey through its original musical perspectives.
1. Time to get up! (2:32)
2. Hit the ground running (7:47)
3. Medieval Love (5:59)
4. Cuando nació el mundo (6:13)
5. Night Drive (4:42)
6. Just a little bit (3:44)
7. Though it’s sad and painful (10:58)
8. Montreal to Pennsylvania (7:59)
9. You think you still have time (5:20)
10. The Fawn II (3:59)
Borrowing inspiration from Chick Corea’s Return to Forever characters as a title theme, the new recording opens on the fervently atmospheric Time to get up! and the sweepingly organic Hit the ground running, and then we get the all-embracing, rhythmically inventive Medieval Love, an absolutely mesmerizing beauty within Cuando nació el mundo, and then the sparkling Night Drive is brought forth.
Providing a wide range of themes, elements and emotions that connects with audiences of all ages, along next is the infectiously-grooved Just a little bit and the soaring, winged Though it’s sad and painful, and they are in turn followed seamlessly by the melodious Montreal to Pennsylvania, a Eastern-tinged resonance is then found within You think you still have time, the album coming to an all-too-soon close on an impassioned, simply divine The Fawn II.
The setlist contains epics, childlike overtures, and the arrangements never taking the task too seriously unless necessary like in the orchestration of Though it’s sad and painful. As an example of making things fun and easy to follow, yet ready to turn the tables upside down with virtuosity, Night Drive and Medieval Love highlight a stacked playlist full of stardust and storytelling.
