Title - [APRIL 7] Stravaganze Consonanti
Artist - Gianluigi Trovesi / Stefano Montanari
++ NOT FINISHED ++
For those unaware, in this inspired collaboration with conductor and baroque violinist Stefano Montanari, the masterful Italian reedman Gianluigi Trovesi extends the line of musical enquiry posited on his Prufumo di violetta album.
Supported by a cast of players well-versed in the ancient sounds of period instruments and the art of historical performance practice, Trovesi looks anew at music of the renaissance and the baroque at Purcell, Dufay, Trabaci, Desprez and more, adding compositions of his own and stirring some improvising with percussion and electronics man Fulvio Maras into the intoxicating brew that is Stravaganze Consonanti (due out April 7th, 2023 via ECM Records).

This rather exhilarating work of musical art opens on the __________ of The Witches Dance (Dido and Aeneas) and the ____________ of Dissolvenze convergenti and follows those up seamlessly with the __________ of Consonanze stravaganti, the ___________ of For A While, before bringing us the ____________ of Kyrie I (Missa L’homme arm?), the ___________________________ of L’ometto disarmato, and the _______________ of Dido’s Lament When I Am laid in Earth (Dido and Aeneas).
Up next is the ____________ of The Gordian Knot Unty’d - Ouverture and the ______________ of Sonata decima sopra Cavalletto zoppo and they are in turn followed by the ___________ of Suave Melodia, the ____________ of Karaib’s Berger, the recording rounding out on the ___________ of The Triumphing Dance (Dido and Aeneas), the ______________ of De vous abandoner, closing on the _________ of Mille Regretz, and the _______________ of Bergheim.
As Montanari writes in the CD booklet, Trovesi grasps the power and refinement of a language that passes in the blink of an eye from Dufay to Purcell, arriving at jazz without ever losing the profound meaning of a musical fabric whose primary motive is universal communication.
