Title - Blue to Gold
Artist - Sarah Perrotta

For those not in the know, singer/songwriter/pianist Sarah Perrotta recently released her fourth studio album of original art-rock/dream-pop entitled Blue to Gold on Third Star Records/7D Media.

Produced by world renowned drummer Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Sarah McLachlan), the songs and sonics of Blue to Gold were cultivated over the last several years at Dreamland Recording Studio in Hurley, NY by Perrotta and Marotta.

In addition to her lush vocals and melodic piano, Sarah utilizes a variety of keyboards and synths including the Mellotron, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Moog, and even a toy piano.

Furthermore, the steady masterful drumming of Jerry Marotta sets the foundation for Sarah Perrotta’s captivating voice and songwriting.

Lifelong friends and musicians were enlisted to collaborate and enrich the textures of Blue to Gold, of which include: Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel), Sara Lee (Gang of Four, The B52s), Marc Shulman (Suzanne Vega), Bill Dillon (Robbie Robertson), Gerry Leonard (David Bowie), Daniel Weiss (Joan Osbourne) and Rupert Greenall (The Fixx).

1. The Other Side (4:25)
2. Echo of Joy (4:55)
3. The Wilderness (4:13)
4. Firestorm (2:48)
5. Heartbeat (3:50)
6. Spectrum of Color (4:47)
7. Blue to Gold (4:21)
8. Don’t You Stop (4:34)
9. Circles (5:15)

A quite crystalline musical line of gossamer opens the album and whilst gradually becoming a euphoric swell, the beauty of The Other Side is laid sweetly before us, and that is followed seamlessly by the gentle, ethereal hipsway of Echo of Joy, the breathy, stirringly magnificent The Wilderness, and then we get the cinematic Firestorm and the harmoniously joyful Heartbeat.

The Annie Lennox-esque beauty of rhythm and layered harmonies next brings us one of my own personal favorites from this stunning new album, Spectrum of Color and that is itself followed by the charmingly pleasing title track Blue to Gold, the album rounding out on the flowery pop sensibilities and melodies caught within the exquisite storytelling of Don’t You Stop, coming to a close on the dulcet piano ballad Circles.

The album was mixed by Michael Cozzi and mastered by Chris Athens. While the limited edition, deluxe vinyl package, that will be released in November, was mastered by Chris Muth.

The final result of Blue to Gold is an ethereal sound that washes over the listener with swirling waves of dreamlike melodies and harmonies. From start to finish it’s a sonic journey that rewards the listener with a musical depth worthy of repeated listening.

Blue to Gold will appeal to listeners of Heather Nova and Happy Rhodes to Sia and Billie Eilish as well as fans of one of rock’s most respected rhythm teams: Tony Levin and Jerry Marotta.
