Title - Everybody Knows: The Singles Box Set [6CD]
Artist - Sonia
For those not in the know, Everybody Knows: The Singles Box Set is the complete collection of the classic Stock Aitken Waterman-produced singles released by one of PWLs best-loved artists, Liverpudlian pop princess Sonia.

Aged just 17, Sonia Evans was discovered by Pete Waterman after she approached him outside a Liverpool radio station and insisted that he should hear her sing.

Within months, her 1989 debut smash Youll Never Stop Me Loving You had made Sonia the youngest British female artist to top the charts since Mary Hopkin, and the following year, she became the first ever to score five Top 20 singles from one album.

Sonia quickly established an adoring audience on the three successive Hitman Roadshow tours of the UK with fellow PWL acts including Kylie, Jason, Sinitta and Hazell Dean.

She also enjoyed chart success across Europe and as far afield as Australia, the U.S. and South America, where she played to huge crowds.

After leaving PWL, Sonia signed with Simon Cowell for two further albums. After extending her uninterrupted run of hit singles to culminate with the 1993 Eurovision runner-up Better The Devil You Know, she went on to star as Sandy in the West End revival of Grease.

In the years since, Sonia has never stopped performing, maintaining a busy diary of live gigs and TV appearances in addition to an impressive CV of stage work.

Featuring no less than 40 remastered tracks including many sought-after mixes this collection celebrates the commercial peak of the record-breaking, chart-dominating sound of the PWL Hit Factory and the 30th anniversary of Sonias first album, the gold-certified Everybody Knows.

Disc 1: Youll Never Stop Me Loving You
1. Youll Never Stop Me Loving You
2. Youll Never Stop Me Loving You (Extended Version)
3. Youll Never Stop Me Loving You (SONIAS KISS Mix)
4. Youll Never Stop Me Loving You (X.X.X. KISS Mix)
5. Youll Never Stop Me Loving You (KISS Mix Edit)
6. Youll Never Stop Me Loving You (Demo Version)
7. Youll Never Stop Me Loving You (Instrumental)

One of the stand out, and most catchiest tracks that hit the radio in 1989, Youll Never Stop Me Loving You was all over the radio back then and encapsulated that end of decade feel, along with everything that Stock, Aitken and Waterman put their hands on!

The debut single from Sonia, it was the only #1 single in the UK Singles Chart for the Liverpudlian singer and reached #10 on the US Billboard Dance/Disco Chart.

Furthermore, the song helped cap a successful summer for Stock, Aitken and Waterman, becoming the sixth number-one single they had been involved in during 1989.

Disc 2: Cant Forget You
1. Cant Forget You
2. Climb To The Top Of A Mountain (Original Mix)
3. Cant Forget You (Extended Version)
4. Cant Forget You (Instrumental)
5. Climb To The Top Of A Mountain (Original Instrumental)

Simply put, Cant Forget You was yet another catchy pop song that quickly began to cement the young Sonia into the chart and hearts of the UK public.

Sonias second single, released in September 1989, the fun, poppy and bouncy sing-along song later appeared on her debut album, Everybody Knows, released in 1990.

Contrary to fan mythology, given its sound, Cant Forget You was written specifically for Sonia by Stock, Aitken and Waterman and was not actually offered to Kylie Minogue first!

This second disc also includes the Hi-NRG track Climb To The Top Of A Mountain, which also does not do Sonias musical cred any damage either!

Disc 3: Listen To Your Heart
1. Listen To Your Heart
2. Better Than Ever
3. Listen To Your Heart (Extended Version)
4. Better Than Ever (Original Mix)
5. Listen To Your Heart (Instrumental)
6. Better Than Ever (7 Inch Instrumental) 7. Better Than Ever (Original Instrumental)

And the hits just kept coming as the highly addictive pop disco track Listen to Your Heart - which was also included on her debut album - was released in November 1989 as the albums third single.

The single reached #10 in the UK and #22 in Ireland and here features the original B-side, which was Sonias version of Better Than Ever (which was originally recorded by Lisa Fabien and was not included on the original release of her debut album).

Disc 4: Counting Every Minute
1. Counting Every Minute
2. Everybody Knows
3. Counting Every Minute (The Don Miguel Mix)
4. Counting Every Minute (Tick-Tock Remix)
5. Counting Every Minute (The Kings Counting House Mix)
6. Counting Every Minute (Instrumental)
7. Everybody Knows (Instrumental)

I mean, come on now, Sonia was on fire with all these incredibly catchy pop songs out the gate and this was one of the best yet! Counting Every Minute was yet another Hi-NRG-layered track, chock full of sentiment and love and had the dancefloors packed back in early 1990.

It reached #16 in the UK charts and #16 in Ireland and still, to this day, is one of her most requested songs to play live. Here on this fourth disc, and whether to plump it out, I just do not know, but we also get another couple of Everybody Knows thrown in for good measure.

Disc 5: Youve Got A Friend (Sonia & Big Fun, Featuring Gary Barnacle)
1. Youve Got A Friend
2. Youve Got A Friend (Cover Version)
3. Youve Got A Friend (Extended Version)
4. Youve Got A Friend (7 Inch Instrumental)
5. Youve Got A Friend (12 Inch Instrumental)

Youve Got A Friend - as always, written and produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman - was Sonias duet with the in-demand boy band Big Fun along with Gary Barnacle on sax and came out in June 1990.

The song, a mid-tempo pop ballad, was released as a charity single for the Childline foundation, but there is a great story behind the track!

Initially, the artists recorded the well-known Carole King song of the same name, but for reasons unknown it was ultimately not used and SAW wrote an original song with the same name instead.

The single peaked at #14 in the UK and #12 in Ireland. It was later included on Big Funs Japanese edition of their debut album A Pocketful of Dreams.

Disc 6: End Of The World
1. End Of The World
2. Cant Help The Way That I Feel
3. End Of The World (Extended Version)
4. End Of The World (Alternative Mix)
5. Megamix
6. Megamix (Hitman Roadshow Version)
7. End Of The World (7 Inch Instrumental)
8. End Of The World (Alternative Instrumental)
9. Cant Help The Way That I Feel (Instrumental)

End Of The World is a pop song written by composer Arthur Kent and lyricist Sylvia Dee, who often worked as a team. They wrote the song for American singer Skeeter Davis, and her recording of it was highly successful in the early 1960s, reaching the top five on four different charts, including #2 on the main Billboard Hot 100.

It spawned many cover versions, none less then in late 1990 when Sonia covered it, in what would become her fifth and final single from her debut album, Everybody Knows.

It reached #18 in the UK, the same chart position as the original and also featured on this sixth and final disc is the singles B-side Cant Help The Way That I Feel, which also appeared on Sonias debut album.

Furthermore, this was her final single with Stock, Aitken and Waterman, but what is also included here, in a form of a quite wondrous celebration of Sonia and this whole albums time period, are two Megamixs of the songs (and trust me, they will have you singing along and smiling from head to toe when listening to them!)

Everybody Knows: The Singles Box Set also boasts a 24-page booklet featuring lyrics, discography, a hand-written introduction and commentary from Sonia herself, and many classic and rare images.

The package is housed in a stylish outer box with lavish foil and spot gloss printing.

Everybody Knows: The Singles Box Set follows the best-selling Cherry Pop reissue of the Everybody Knows album, and our acclaimed recent CD singles box set for another iconic PWL act, Mel & Kim.
