'The Legend Of Zorro'
(Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Giovanna Zacarías, Raúl Méndez, et al / PG / 88 mins / Sony Pictures)
Overview: It's 1850, and after fighting to help California become the 31st state, Zorro (Banderas) has promised his wife, Elena (Zeta-Jones), that he'd give up his secret identity and go back to living as Alejandro de la Vega. But he has second thoughts when an old villain threatens to unleash a threat that's been years in the making.
Verdict: 'The Legend of Zorro' feels like a half-hearted shrug of a sequel, an attempt to put a lucrative franchise on life support! Trust me, this unnecessary and overlong sequel fails to recapture its predecessor's zing! Bigger, louder and considerably less charming than its predecessor, 'The Legend of Zorro' is a workmanlike adventure yarn, intermittently reverent to the canon but not very inspired! Basically, it's a 130-minute adventure movie that overstays its welcome by about 80 minutes!!!!!!
