'Van Helsing'
(Hugh Jackman, Will Kemp, Josie Maran, Kate Beckinsale, / PG-13 / 93 mins / Universal)

Overview: Bram Stoker's character Abraham Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman), the legendary vampire hunter, will head to Eastern Europe to face the king of the vampires and other ghoulies.

Verdict: A hokey monster mish-mash, 'Van Helsing' is silly and spectacular, and fun! A big tongue-in-cheek extravaganza, sure the flick is mostly content to offer warmed-over allusions and secondhand thrills, but therein is its secret weapon: it is unashamed exhilarating fun, involving a richly designed and often quite funny re-exploration of the movie past. Comically, things move so quickly, we can't stop long enough to ask why certain events are happening! But, that's OK as by the time the end credits role you will have had a blast with Mr. Van Helsing!
