'Willard'
(Crispin Glover, R. Lee Ermey / PG-13 / 95 mins / New Line)
Overview: Crispin Glover stars in this remake of the 1971 horror film about an outcast whose only friends are pet rats. A whole lot of them, in fact, and he uses them to get revenge on everyone who's ever done him wrong.
Verdict: 'Willard' is an unsuccessful mix of sci-fi horror and a highly exaggerated filmmaking approach that borders on unintentional parody! And while the flick is nowhere near as quirky as it thinks it is, (as expected) Glover's performance turns out to be shockingly emotional. 'Willard' is best when it exploits the dark comedy of the situation, but the original film's power and subtlety have been gnawed away with it's worst flaw a clunky, tone-deaf screenplay!
